Frequently Asked QUESTIONS...

This site is a tribute to one of the greatest American football films ever made...

Q - Is Terrell Owens in Any Given Sunday?
A - Yes he is. He's first seen during a flashback when Tony and Christine are arguing after the loss to the Americans. He's later seen making receptions and scoring a touchdown in the play-off game against the Dallas Knights. After which he's carried on shoulders with his helmet off. Later he gets another TD on a double-reverse.

He wears 82 rather than his real-life 81.

Q - That scene... you know the one. Tell me about it.
A - Yes I do. It occurs at 57 minutes and 20 seconds into the movie, that's DVD Chapter 19. The horse in question is referred to by Christine as 'Clark'. And yeah, it's pretty big.
If you have any other questions, please drop me a line and I'll do my best to answer it.

Q - How far did they go in the Play-Offs that year?
A - It's not clear. The Knights QB mentions that they'd have Minnesota "next week" but then Tony D'Amato hints that San Francisco beat the Sharks. That could be to rankings, or that it was seperate weeks, or a mistake. It's also not known how long the playoffs are - the Knights game must have been a wildcard game or else it would have been in Miami (they'd have been ranked 2nd). Not to mention that seems unlikely with a 9-7 record.

In any case, they didn't win the Pantheon Cup.

Q - How did you get the player names?
I watched the film with freeze-frame ready and paused it whenever necessary to catch player names. The offense is pretty clearly shown throughout the film but the defense isn't. Very few players are referred to by anything other than either a nickname or a surname.

I've taken some guesses with certain positions (notably the defence) but think it's pretty much right.
Q - Why are there two teams called "Knights"?
A - I really don't know but there are. The San Francisco Knights are clearly shown on the schedule that a drunken Tony updates after the Americans' game and the Wildcard game (if that's what it is) is clearly against the Dallas Knights.
It seems most like that plans changed at some point, for whatever reason, and that Oliver Stone had to change the final game so that it wasn't against San Francisco but against Dallas. Perhaps as simple as he didn't want SF to lose?

Q - Is the mascot really called "Sharkey"? Really?
A - No idea, but that's what I'd call him.
